Which foam do I need?
PVC Foam Tape (Gaska V710)
Feel: Light density, soft and easy to compress (Shore 00 hardness 14)
Density: 112 kg/m³
Best at: Conformable seals against air, moisture, light and dust on irregular surfaces and tight curves
Service temperature: −40°C to 82°C
Thickness: 1.6mm or 3.2mm
Adhesive: Single sided, aggressive acrylic
PVC Nitrile Foam Tape (Gaska 4700)
Feel: Firmer, medium density (Shore 00 hardness 35–55)
Density: 105–192 kg/m³
Best at: Firmer cushioning and shock absorption where more resistance to compression is needed
Service temperature: −30°C to 80°C (115°C intermittent)
Thickness: 3mm or 6mm
Adhesive: Single sided
Both are closed cell, self-extinguishing foams for sealing, cushioning and insulating, so there's a lot of overlap.
The main difference is firmness. Choose PVC for a soft seal that compresses easily and follows curves. Choose PVC Nitrile when you need a firmer foam that pushes back more and holds up to heavier cushioning.
