Ultra High Bond Grey

Alternative to 3M VHB 4941 (1.1 mm) and 3M VHB 4991 (2.3 mm)

The 1.1 mm and 2.3 mm are grey, double-sided acrylic foam tapes made by Saint-Gobain (Norbond), designed for permanent, high-strength bonding. In many applications they can replace rivets, welds, screws and liquid adhesives. The viscoelastic foam core absorbs shock, vibration and differential expansion.

• 1.1 mm (Norbond A7600): typical 90° peel to stainless steel 39 N/cm (3-day dwell); dynamic shear 540 kPa; T-block tensile 570 kPa (ASTM D3330 / D1002 / D897). Service temperature -35 °C to +93 °C. Typical uses: bus, truck and trailer skin and roof-bow bonding, general industrial.
• 2.3 mm (Norbond FA2300): typical T-block tensile 785 kPa; dynamic shear 549 kPa. Service temperature -40 °C to +120 °C. Developed for ACM (aluminium composite) façades, signage and stiffeners; excellent gap filling.
• 0.6 mm (Biolink FlexLINK 30600): a different product from the 1.1 and 2.3 mm – a Biolink black/grey modified-acrylate tape, 0.64 mm thick, on a white PE-paper liner. Made in Germany. Solvent free. Alternative to 3M VHB 4936 (0.64 mm). Adhesion (N/25 mm, AFERA 5001): steel 40 (60 after 72 h, cohesion failure), aluminium 32, glass 32, PMMA 35, PVC 33, PP 20, PE 4. Cohesion 30 N/625 mm² at 20 °C (AFERA 5012). Temperature -40 °C to +120 °C, short term up to +150 °C. Good tack for sub-assembly and production. Not recommended for PE. (AFERA figures are not directly comparable with 3M’s ASTM values.)
• Good UV and weathering resistance. Suitable indoors and outdoors.
• Bonds metals, glass, most plastics, sealed wood and many painted surfaces. Test on low-energy plastics (PP, PE) and powder coats before production use.

Application: Surfaces must be clean and dry; wipe with isopropyl alcohol. Apply firm pressure (approx. 100–150 kPa) with a roller. Apply at approx. 16 °C to 40 °C. Bond strength builds over 72 hours.
